He's a scientist from Prague, Czech Republic. Accomplished — in the way that can feel like a trap, when what you're known for and what you feel inside have quietly drifted apart.
He traveled to Tucson for three days with the horses.
On the first day, Lisa gave him feedback he'd never received in any lab or lecture hall: he was "almost transparent." Not fully showing up. Not fully present.
Eight months later, he wrote:
"I felt certain I had to become 'visible' and change the situation. So I bought my first horse — an old, lame, blind horse that couldn't even be ridden. It felt like buying the freedom of the whole world. After I bought him, he essentially stopped limping. Now we are enjoying trail rides in local forests again. I can still feel a piece of the desert in my heart. And I am really grateful that it became part of me."
